What is work? What are simple machines? How do machines make work easier? How are force, work and distance related? Your class will answer these and other questions as they apply critical thinking skills to investigate the earliest use of such machines as pulleys, wheel and axle mechanisms and levers.
Students also study the specific principles behind simple machines as well as the mechanical advantages and efficiencies offered by each. In the process, they will become familiar with the connection between theory and the machines used in our everyday life. Grades 7-10.
