When designing any structure, the architect and engineer must consider size, function, location, building materials and potential forces acting on a structure. Therefore, a residential house is designed and built differently than a skyscraper and a bridge is designed and built differently than an electrical line tower.
With this KELVIN® kit, students can investigate the forces and process used in tower designs and construction. Students will explore tower steel framing techniques, sheer walls, curtail walls, and earthquake resistance designs through hands-on design and modeling of a tower frame.
Kit includes: balsa and cardstock building materials, ready to use drawing templates as well as detailed instructions and resource materials.
