Using a semipermeable membrane model that simulates a living cell, your class will observe how the process of diffusion allows the cell to absorb vital nutrients and eliminate (wastes. Additionally, students will investigate the process of osmosis and learn how this passive transport of water through the cell's membrane maintains equilibrium. As a result, they will also learn what factors affect osmosis and how to quantify the rate of this critical process. Grades 7-10. Lab for 40 students.
