Introduce students to active solar hot water and heat production used in homes worldwide and how to create a sustainable source of energy. A series of activities focus on heat transfer, heat absorption, insulation, solar geometry and solar heat collector mechanics. Students then apply this information in the design of a solar hot water and space heater. A data interface and sensors are used to gather data during activities as well as display the data in graph and chart form.
